To learn more about the Paavo Nurmi Marathon, Click Here. Registration Day 9:00 am - 7:00 pm on Friday, August 7, 2009, at the Hurley Area Chamber of Commerce office, 316 Silver Street in Hurley. Participants must be pre-registered in order to pick up race packets on race day. Race Day packet pick-up will be at the start line from 6-7:15am. Chips for the chip timing will also be distributed at that time. Relay team participants must be pre-registered by Monday, August 4, in order to receive participant's shirts. Teams may register after August 4, but will NOT receive shirts. Spaghetti Feed Load up on your carbs at the St. Mary's Church . Friday 4:00 to 8:00. Located on 5th Ave. Race Day Bus Transportation is available to the start line. Pick-ups begin at 5:45am at the Brite Spot 2 corner (Hwys 51 and 77) in Downtown Hurley. Start Time: 7:30am in Upson, Wisconsin. There is no transportation to the 2 person relay split in Gile. All relays are responsible for transportation of participants to the splits (with the exception of the 2nd leg of the 5 person relay, who MUST be bussed to the 5 mile split, followed by the transportation of the 1st leg runner to the 10 or 15 mile split, depending on preference, once the 1st leg runner has completed his/her leg). Race Results Race results are available on line after the event. The Paavo is USATF certified #WI-06072-JW. Divisions Men's Women's 1st-10th Overall 1st-5th Overall 15 & Under 17 & Under 16-21 18-22 22-29 23-29 30-34 30-39 35-39 40-49 40-44 50-59 45-49 60 & over 50-54 55-59 60-69 Handcycle 70 & over Wheelchair **The Wheelchair and Handcycle Divisions have no age restriction. Traditional Racing Wheelchairs will remain in the Wheelchair Division. NEW in 2009 !!! Half Marathon Division. Relay Team Divisions - No team limit for relays . The Paavo offers two types of relay team competition - the 2 Person & the 5 Person. The 2 Person Relay offers six divisions: Men's, Women's, Mixed, Men's Masters, Women's Masters & Mixed Masters. The 5 Person Relay offers six divisions: Men's, Women's, Men's Masters, Women's Masters, Mixed & Mixed Masters. The master's teams consist of racers age 40 and over. Both the 5 Person Mixed & Mixed Masters must consist of a minimum of 2 women. Relay teams must be pre-registered by Monday, August 4, in order to receive participant's shirts! Relay teams may register after that date but will NOT receive a participant's shirt. Finish Line Mojakka (Finnish stew), refreshments, fruit and bread are available at the finish line. The finish line closes at 1:30 pm. Awards (No duplicate awards are given - No ties are allowed) Marathon Traditional Paavo Marathon finishers' T-Shirts and finishers' medals will be awarded to the first 300 marathon registrants following the completion of the race. This number is based on our average number of finishers and takes into consideration our recent trend toward increased registrations, so don't worry, our runners don't go away unhappy:-) In case of an unexpected surge in registrations during race week any remaining finishers will receive their shirts via mail. Awards will be given to overall and age groups in the men’s and women’s divisions in the marathon. Relays Relay participants will receive their t-shirts at registration packet pick-up.
